Janet McMillan

Janet McMILLAN, my great grandmother, was born at Over Staveley, Westmoreland on 22nd October 1855. She married my great grandfather, William HAWKRIGG, on 10th June 1882.
No father is named on her birth certificate, but John McMILLAN is named on her marriage certificate.

There is no obvious trace of Janet in the censuses of 1861, 1872 and 1881.

I am intrigued though by a Jannot MILLAN (6) at Staveley Gate, Over Staverley in 1861. She is with the widow, Anna Bella MILLAN (39) and her sister, Anna Bella MILLAN (8) on RG09 piece 3964 folio 22 page 19.

In 1881 there is a McMILLAN family at 84 Burlington Street, Liverpool, Lancashire comprising John (60), Mary (60), Janet (24) and Mary (21). Again intriguing.

In 1871 the same family is at Leeds Street Court, Liverpool, Lancashire: John (47), Mary (48), Hellen (16), Janet (14) and Mary (11).

In 1861 one could consider a family at Gallowgate Street, St. Johns, Lanarkshire: John (35), Mary (32), John (8), Janet (6), Peter (2) and Mary (2 months).

A lot more needs to be done before we accept an ancestry for Janet McMillan.

I would like to change the surname field of my blood-relatives to CAPITAL letters, but Genes Reunited won't let me..

Ann YARE (c1778)

I have returned to the first child of Joseph YARE and Mary BAINBRIGG, my 4 x great grandparents.

Pamela YARE (1941-)

I just discovered Pamela WATSON's website, Yare Family. While I do not yet know the blood relationship between Pamela and myself, I will see what more I can discover.

James YARE (1875-?)

Unfortunately there were two people by the name of James YARE born in 1875.

Dennis R YARE (1932-1993)

My 6th cousin, Dennis Reed YARE, again via Joseph YARE (c1755), married Dorothy KITCHING at Durham Western in 1958. No children are registered in England and Walesfrom this marriage.
